Over 200 Rabbitohs Junior Members and supporters were on hand at Mascot Oval last week to take part in the Club’s second Junior Holiday Clinic of the year.
Rabbitohs squad member Angus Crichton, joined former first graders and Souths Cares Ambassadors Beau Champion and Nathan Merritt, to run the kids through their paces in a number of drills and games designed to improve their Rugby League skills.
Merritt, now just a year into retirement, was pleased to see a high turn-out of girls on the day to take part in proceedings, while also stressing the importance of young fans having opportunities to rub shoulders with NRL players.
“These kids grow up looking up to NRL players as role models,” said Merritt.
“To see NRL players first hand, it’s important for them, it’s inspiring for them and gives young kids something to aspire to in life.
“It’s all about being active and keeping active – it’s about having fun as well.”
