The Rabbitohs and Roosters rivalry has seen classic matches aplenty since 1908. As the Clubs prepare to meet for the 212th time on Friday night, we take you back to 1987 for this classic from Henson Park.

It was Sunday afternoon football at the old venue with some 17,562 spectators there to watch the Round 24 clash between the second-placed Roosters and fourth placed Rabbitohs., and after getting off to a shaky start by conceding first points, the Rabbitohs responded sensationally.

A huge Craig Coleman bomb into the in-goal was taken brilliantly by Ian Roberts, who wasted no time in grounding the ball to open Souths’ account for the day.

A double to Steve Mavin, a try to David Cruickshank and a 16 point haul from Mark Ellison with one try and six goals from seven attempts saw the men in red and green run out 32-18 victors.
