Rabbitohs lock-forward, Chris McQueen, says that losing the battle in the middle against the Bulldogs in Friday Night Football was a prime factor in the Round 24 clash at ANZ Stadium.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 22-0 lead in the first half before the Rabbitohs managed to claw their way back with three tries of their own in the second half.

“They’re obviously a big pack and we certainly didn’t aim up and didn’t win that battle in the middle of the field – I think that’s probably why we lost,” said McQueen.

“We certainly have to learn a lot from that. It wasn’t a good performance so we’ll have a look at the video in the next couple of days and see what we really need to work on and do the work at training.”

Despite being on the wrong end of the score-board, McQueen played strongly for the red and green’s, topping the tackle-count with 39 tackles while also making 80 metres with the ball in hand.

The Rabbitohs will now prepare to take on the Brisbane Broncos next Thursday Night at Allianz Stadium.
