Rabbitohs halfback, Adam Reynolds, is not only pleased that he and his team managed to score a win over the Cowboys last night, but is pleased that the side met a conscious challenge to improve.
Speaking at this morning’s (Friday’s) recovery session in Townsville, Reynolds admitted that the Round 23 clash was a step in the right direction for he and his men as they prepare to take on the Bulldogs next Friday night at ANZ Stadium in Member Appreciation Round.
“It is pleasing to come up here and put in a good performance,” admitted Reynolds.
“It’s something we spoke about during the week and we really challenged ourselves and were more focussed on ourselves more than anything.
“There’s still a few rounds to go so it’s still about us playing consistent football from here on in, so last night was a step in the right direction.”
The victory puts the Rabbitohs on 30 competition points and places them in fourth spot, just two points ahead of the Sharks three weeks out from end of the regular season.
The eighth-placed Bulldogs meanwhile will be looking to consolidate their place in the top-eight this Sunday when they take on the Gold Coast Titans in their Round 23 clash, before a short turn-around to the blockbuster clash against the Rabbitohs on Friday.
“They’re playing great footy too,” said Reynolds.
“It’s another good challenge for us. It’s all about getting down to Sydney and getting the bodies in the best shape possible and turning up with the same mentality we did (in Townsville).
“They’ve got quality all over the park and we know they can turn up and beat anyone.”
The Rabbitohs will return to ANZ Stadium next Friday night to take on the Bulldogs in Round 24 of the Premiership. Members and supporters are urged to Assemble and cheer the boys over the line! Purchase your tickets now!
