We didn’t make things easy on ourselves against Penrith, but coming away with the win is certainly what we needed. This week, we come up against a team who is playing for their coach and for a spot in the top-eight, and with the end of the season nearing, it’s time to iron out all the creases.
These next few weeks are very important for us as we come up against some of the competition’s top teams, and there are plenty of reasons for us to come out firing.
With the retirement of Ben Lowe, our boys will want to succeed for him. He has been an integral part of our team since 2008 – someone you could rely on to always do his job. He dug in, he showed a level head at all times and was a big part of our strength in defence. His aggression on-field, and his demeanour off it make him one of our Club’s true gentlemen.
I am super happy that he got to be a part of our Premiership winning team. I thank him deeply for his services to our proud Club and wish him all the best. I am sure our players will want to do the same.
Kyle Turner is another motivation for our boys. I know there are a lot of opinions out there, but the way I see it, is that we have great staff that have Kyle’s best interests at heart.
Not many people would have the guts and drive to do what he did last week. His inspiration has flooded into many hearts and whether he plays this week or not, he deserves the very best and it goes without saying that he wants the very best for his team too.
These men in red and green are ready. GI at fullback, with Walker and Johnston seeking gaps. Keary and Reynolds – an extremely young yet experienced halves combination who know how to set up a try or two. Issac Luke – who I am sure will be digging deep at dummy-half. Then you have the likes of; Stewart, McQueen, Sutton, George and Thomas Burgess, all taking the ball up and keeping our halves safe. We couldn’t ask for more committed or capable men.
The excitement is kicking in! Let’s help our boys shine bright against Manly and beyond Rabbitohs Members! The ride is not over yet!
Up the mighty Rabbitohs!
