Rabbitohs centre, Dylan Walker, says that the level of enjoyment in the side at the moment is spurring his team on as they head into Round 21 against the Penrith Panthers at ANZ Stadium this Sunday.
Walker has been enjoying crossing the white line in the Club’s last two outings – the Test centre picking up four tries in two weeks, with three of them coming from his side’s impressive 52-6 Round 20 win over the Newcastle Knights.
The Souths Junior has emphasised that there’s still plenty of things to get right though ahead of Sunday’s clash.
“We definitely played well together – that’s the important thing,” said Walker of the Club’s last outing.
“We’ve just got to keep working on our combos at training and doing the little things right,” said Walker.
“There’s a lot of enjoyment in this team at the moment – everyone’s happy together, everyone’s building their own combos together, so that’s as much as I can ask for and we’re really enjoying our time.”
Walker and his teammates will be looking for an improved performance against the Panthers this week though, having gone down to the Penrith side in Round 17.
“They just played with a lot of enthusiasm and energy,” said Walker of the last encounter.
“We definitely have to come up and match it this week – they’ve got a lot of young players like Bryce Cartwright, Dean Whare – they’re all enjoying their footy. They’re confidence players and they’re young as well so they’ve got a lot of energy.
“Everyone’s got strike players and Penrith are definitely one of them.”
