The magical SCG – the place our history holds so dearly. The place the Little Master, Clive Churchill, owned, and where Sattler wrote an entire chapter on how to become a Rugby League hero. It’s the home of so many of our golden eras.
We have played 321 games at this ground, won 185, lost 129 and drawn 7. We have scored 5071 points and many of those points have been etched into Red and Green minds permanently.
The one point for me that stands out prominently is Nathan Merritt’s last-minute field-goal against the Tigers, and many would remember Greg Inglis’ amazing try-assist for Gasnier playing for the Kangaroos. So the question is, will we add to these amazing memories on Saturday?
With a desperate St George-Illawarra as opposition, this game is important. This is it. It’s time to shine. After losing their last five games, the Dragons will be eager to change their direction, so we’ll need to be on.
With the Dragons welcoming back a few troops including Josh Dugan, they will be feeling that they can take this one. But, we are also seeing the return of Greg Inglis and will have Reynolds further rested from our bye. Expect more from players like McQueen and Grant, but also from our man at the back, Mr Inglis himself. Dugan will have a point to prove against our fullback after the NSW Origin loss.
We have had a few downers but now it’s time to put our best foot forward. If Reynolds is ready, then our attack will be on key and if the Burgess boys are on song we will have the field position to see some Reynolds magic. Fingers crossed the SCG magic seeps into our veins and we can produce some thrilling and inspiring moments.
Come on boys! this is the time to take the game by the horns! We can do it, and we have the power! So bring you’re A-game and collect those two points!
Feel the history and bring back some memories for those who gave us the golden era.
