Rabbitohs winger and Souths Junior Alex Johnston has been added to the New South Wales State of Origin squad for Wednesday’s deciding Game III in Brisbane as a shadow player.

The Club’s 2014 Rookie of the Year will get his first taste of the Origin experience when he goes into Laurie Daley’s Blues camp, ahead of what is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated Origin deciders in recent memory.

Despite being a relative newcomer to the top grade – his debut coming in Round 8 of the 2014 season in Brisbane – Johnston is no stranger to the representative scene, having already represented the Indigenous All Stars this year in addition to earning himself a Test cap for the Kangaroos as well as being part of Australia’s 2014 Four Nations squad.

Johnston’s selection follows on from Rabbitohs centre Dylan Walker’s selection as a shadow player for the Blues in Origin II. Click here to read about Walker’s experience.

Congratulations to Alex on his addition to the Blues squad.
