Auva’a Achieves Cycling Goal and Raises Money For Worthy Organisations

Kirisome Auva’a has achieved his goal of cycling from Sydney to Wollongong, supported by Rabbitohs coaches and staff, whilst helping to raise money for two fantastic causes.

Auva’a was joined by Rabbitohs’ Assistant Coaches Kurt Wrigley and Wayne Collins, Football Analyst Leigh Richardson and Welfare and Education Manager Rob Capizzi on the difficult trip from Sydney to Wollongong.

Auva’a chose this ride to help raise money for two worthwhile causes, firstly Project Futures and the Stella Fella campaign, as well as Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia. He set the goal of completing the ride and he achieved that on Thursday with the help of his fellow cycling Rabbitohs.

Project Futures and the Stella Fella campaign is a positive awareness raising campaign educating men and boys about making better choices and encouraging and recognising positive male role models in our community.

“I’ve learned a lot about myself throughout this year and I’ve changed my behaviours, and a lot of that is due to campaigns and services such as the ones we’re supporting with this ride to Wollongong,” Auva’a said before the cycling challenge.

“I set some goals at the start of this process and one of them was to put on an event to raise funds for charities and organisations that I thought would be good to support, and now here we are, about to test ourselves on a ride to Wollongong and hopefully we can raise some money for these organisations along the way.

“Every little bit helps, and I want to show these organisations the respect they have shown me and many other people over the years who have asked for their help.”
