Rabbitohs skipper Greg Inglis spent time in hospital in the lead-up to the opening game of the 2015 State of Origin Series, but that didn’t stop him from lacing up the boots – and he has no regrets about it, citing that Origin is about doing anything you can for your team.

“It was extremely challenging,” said Inglis of Game I.

“To get out of hospital and put the boots on – I have no regrets for doing that and that’s what Origin is about.

“It’s purely just effort and I’ll do anything for this team.”

Inglis has enjoyed a settled preparation for what could be the deciding match of the 2015 Series in Melbourne next Wednesday as he prepares to play in his 26th Origin encounter.

But while Inglis has been named in the centres, the Rabbitoh could find himself playing on the wing as part of a dangerous kick-return team that could include Billy Slater pending injury.

For his part, Inglis is ready to oblige if called upon to play on the flanks.

“Like I referred to before, I’ll do anything for this team,” said Inglis.

“If that requires me to play on the wing then I’ll put my hand up for it. It’s happened in the past – we’ll just have to wait and see what Mal thinks.”
