Mounties v Bears

Aubrey Keech Reserve

Saturday, 3pm

The North Sydney Bears will take on Mounties this Saturday afternoon at Aubrey Keech Oval in a match that will see both teams keen to get back in the winners’ circle after losses in Round 13.

The Bears currently sit in 11th position on the NSW Cup ladder, and will come up against a second placed Mounties side intent on atoning for their 34-22 loss to the Knights at Hunter Stadium last week.

While Norths have experienced an up and down first half of the 2015 season, a recent run of form has seen them most recently take wins against the Panthers in Round 10 by 26-18 (mere weeks after being well beaten by the same side), as well as victory over the Tigers in Round 11 by 26-22.

The halves pairing of Darren Nicholls and Cody Walker – still in its infancy – has not only been a source of stability for the Bears outfit in recent weeks, but has also proven to be a source of points – both players contributing to their side’s points haul.

Walker has been able to find the line on four occasions in the Club’s last three games, while Nicholls has been on song with the boot in his capacity as the side’s goal-kicker.

The Bears will be looking to improve on their defence, which has conceded a total of 330 points so far in 2015, while Mounties have conceded 267.
