Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, says that every play is an important one as the Rabbitohs head down to Melbourne to take on the second-placed Storm at AAMI Park.

The Rabbitohs mentor pointed to this week’s opposition as a prime example of the need to improve every detail of the Rabbitohs’ game.

“I think Melbourne do that every week,” said Maguire.

“That’s something they’ve worked (at) for a long, long time – it’s an 80 minute performance going down there and we know exactly what we have to do and go about it exactly the same.

“Every play is an important one and that’s what we’re setting out to do.”

After going three weeks without a win, the men in red and green got back in the winners’ circle against a high-flying Dragons outfit in Monday night football.

Maguire described preparations for that match and the subsequent result as a turning point.

“We definitely turned a corner in how we’ve gone about our preparation and the way we play over the last couple of weeks,” said Maguire.

“We had to look at ourselves pretty intensely over the last sort of month – we’re continually wanting to make sure we’re a better team every week and now’s another opportunity.”

“You learn a lot from yourself and as a team going through those periods.”
