Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, has confirmed this morning (Saturday) that John Sutton has been ruled out of Monday night’s clash against the North Queensland Cowboys at ANZ Stadium.
After undergoing scans on his fractured jaw on Friday to assess his fitness, a decision was made to delay the Souths Junior’s return to the field.
“Unfortunately the scans show that there’s still a little bit of a fracture,” said Maguire.
“He’ll probably need another week there so it’s given us some good sort of thoughts moving forward and where we go.”
Maguire has not ruled out the possibility that fullback Greg Inglis, could play five eighth in place of Sutton – a position the Test star won a Clive Churchill Medal playing.
“GI is one possibility,” said Maguire.
“GI’s won a few awards in that position before so I’m sure he’ll pop up at some stage.”
The Rabbitohs will be taking on a resurgent Cowboys side who are coming off two consecutive wins.
“They are – obviously over the last couple of weeks they’ve hit some great form,” said Maguire.
“We’re aware of what we need to prepare for. They’ve got some quality players right across the park – big forward pack, great halfback and plenty of speed out wide.”
“Everyone knows the quality of what they’ve got up front
