South Sydney’s SG Ball and Harold Matthews sides will both be playing for a spot in the finals of their respective competitions when they take on the Cronulla Sharks at Redfern Oval on Saturday.

In the SG Ball (under 18s), the Rabbitohs currently sit in fourth position on 11 points, closely followed by five teams on 10 points who will all be fighting to remain in the top eight. The Sharks currently sit in tenth spot on nine points.

Meanwhile in the Harold Matthews (under 16s), Souths sit in eighth spot on nine competition points of their own with this week’s opposition, Cronulla, occupying fourth spot just two points ahead of the red and greens.

Rabbitohs SG Ball Coach, Willie Peters, told Rabbitohs.com.au that the two South Sydney sides have everything to play for.

“There’s an opportunity there this week to seal a finals berth so it’s certainly all on the line,” said Peters.

“Both teams have had their share of wins and losses throughout the competition – SG Ball has had four wins from eight games and the Matthews have scored three – so there’s plenty of scope for improvement. That starts this week.”

Peters encouraged Rabbitohs Members and supporters everywhere to head to Redfern Oval this Saturday to cheer on the next generation of the Club.

“It really makes a difference when our Members and supporters show up,” said Peters.

“Every time we’ve played at Redfern or Erskineville Oval, the boys have enjoyed fantastic support and we’d love to see more of the same this weekend.”

All the footy action kicks off at 12pm when the Harold Matthews sides take the field, before SG Ball begins at 1:30pm.
