Greg Inglis has cited ball-control and discipline as the two key areas that will need to be improved by his team before they take on arch-rivals the Roosters at ANZ Stadium.
Despite coming away with a convincing 36-6 victory over the Brisbane Broncos in sweltering conditions in round one, Inglis told the Rugby League media this week that discipline and ball-control will need to be improved in order to take down the high-flying Roosters.
“That’s probably our two major keys that we’ll be working on this week,” said Inglis
“If you give the Roosters enough ball they’re going to hurt you.
“They’re a high quality side with talent across the field – we’ve just got to concentrate on our game first and foremost before we even think about how we’re going to beat them.
“We’ve just got to play as best we can and the outcome will sort itself out.”
The Roosters were one of the form teams of the opening round of the competition, with the Eastern Suburbs club also travelling to Queensland and coming away with a convincing win, by 28-4 over the Cowboys.
“The Roosters performed really well last week and we’ve got to back our performance up from last week as well,” said Inglis.
“We’ve just got to step our game up – we’ve got little things to improve on even though we got off to a good start last week, there’s a few things around our game we need to tidy up.”
The Rabbitohs will take on the Sydney Roosters in their first home game of the season at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, 15 March at 4pm. Tickets are available now through Ticketek.
