Adam Reynolds kicking a 52 metre penalty-goal at the end of a convincing win against the Broncos last week was evidence to me that we’re capable of great things as a team and as a Club. Suncorp Stadium – once regarded as an impenetrable fortress by Sydney teams like us – was turned into the scene of a great victory.

Round one was satisfying – the exact start we needed for season 2015. But things are about to get tougher – the Premiers of 2013 against the Premiers of 2014. We’re up against our old enemy, our biggest challenge – the Roosters.

This game will without doubt have plenty of emphasis on the halves in the form of Maloney and Pearce, up against Reynolds and Keary. The Roosters halves pairing have built up a partnership that any team would love to have. They are strong and they are smart, however our boys are every bit as talented, and the Reynolds/Keary partnership is still in its infancy.

Reynolds has impressed me significantly in the off season challenges. He has his feet planted firmly on the ground, yet plays his game like he is out of this world. His vision is superb and his kicking game is second to none. Having Keary alongside him is a blessing. He has a seventh sense when it comes to sniffing out tries. I will never ever forget the try he set up in the first half of the Grand Final. He saw a chance and decided he would give it a go. His eagerness and readiness is invaluable. With the rest of our team doing their jobs around this, it makes for a formidable force.

Will Sunday’s match start off fast from the blocks? Or will the teams want to save their fuel for the run home? Our recent history shows that we tire our opposition and run away with games towards the end, but the Roosters are a different kettle of fish.

Rabbitohs Members everywhere want this win on Sunday and I know that the 17 men who will take the field feel exactly the same way. I cannot wait to get into my seat at ANZ Stadium again and cheer the boys on!

Go get them Rabbitohs!
