New Rabbitohs recruit, Tim Grant, knows full well what the Charity Shield means to both the Rabbitohs and the Dragons, and is ready to show it come game time this Saturday night.
Grant was this week named in Michael Maguire’s 23 man squad to take on the Dragons in the 32nd Annual Charity Shield in what will be his first match in the famous cardinal and myrtle
But while the match is the very first 13 a side game of the year, as far as Grant and his teammates are concerned, it’s straight down to business.
“As the boys showed at the Nines, every game is business and that’s how it (the Charity Shield) will be,” said Grant.
“It’s been a long time coming,” enthused the Rabbitoh about his first South Sydney outing.
“I think we’ve been at it (training) since November – it’s finally around the corner so I’m just looking forward to getting out there with the boys.”
Michael Maguire this week named a strong Rabbitohs line-up for the clash that will see the likes of Adam Reynolds, Alex Johnston and George Burgess face off against Benji Marshall, Josh Dugan and Ben Creagh.
Grant will come off the bench in jumper number 17, with fellow new recruit, Glenn Stewart also set to come off Maguire’s bench in number 16.
The clash also looms as Grant’s first opportunity to get up close and personal with the Rabbitohs’ growing family of Members and supporters, and he’s keen to show what he can do.
“I think everywhere where Souths turn up, there’s always a crowd,” said Grant.
“So it’ll be good to get out there and show the fans what I can do and what it means for me to play for this great Club.”
