Incoming Rabbitohs CEO, John Lee, yesterday (Wednesday) paid tribute to Shane Richardson for his achievements at the helm of the Club over 11 years before he takes the reins.
“It’s a real honour and I know today is Shane’s day,” said Mr Lee.
“What an amazing achievement for him after a decade of service and taking the Club from really struggling to a great 21st Premiership.
“I’m just so honoured – I’m thrilled, I’m smiling, because this is a great opportunity to build on that wonderful success.
“You only have to listen to Madge talking about creating a dynasty and creating systemic, repeatable success. If I can be there to help the Members achieve that goal over the next two to three years, five years, ten years that would be wonderful.”
Shane Richardson will shortly move into a new role as Head of Game Strategy and Development at the National Rugby League.
Mr Lee will begin his tenure with the Rabbitohs on Monday 9 February in a seamless transition for the Club with Richo remaining at the Rabbitohs until he starts his new role at the NRL on Monday 2 March.
