Rabbitohs CEO, Shane Richardson, spoke to Rabbitohs TV today (Wednesday) following the announcement of his shift to NRL Central after 11 years of dedicated service to South Sydney.
Richardson joined the Rabbitohs at a pivotal point in the Club’s history, and was instrumental in setting the red and green’s on the path to not only Premiership glory, but to becoming a benchmark in the NRL.
Unsurprisingly, it was with much emotion that Richo informed Members and staff of his move.
“This morning when I woke up – it was a fairly emotional morning for me,” admitted Richo.
“It’s been a long journey but such a worthwhile one. People say crowning it off with a Premiership, but there have been so many wonderful things along the way.
“I just said to someone over there before, when you’re at the Rabbitohs, it’s not about a football club, it’s about religion, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of it.”
The long-serving Souths supremo will move into a new role as Head of Game Strategy and Development at the National Rugby League, with John Lee set to take the Rabbitohs top job.
Mr Lee will begin his tenure with the Rabbitohs on Monday 9 February in a seamless transition for the Club with Richo remaining at the Rabbitohs until he starts his new role at the NRL on Monday 2 March.
