With the Rabbitohs’ pre-season playing schedule just weeks away from kick-off, forward Jason Clark says competition for spots in the side is hotting up with the reward of a World Club Challenge tilt looming.
The veteran of 92 first grade games – all for the Rabbitohs – is looking to earn his spot in the Club’s first ever World Club Challenge appearance on February 22 against reigning English Super League Champions, St Helens, at Langtree Park in the UK.
For Clark, it’s all about “getting over those hills” in pre-season training to ultimately be a part of the side.
“We’re almost back at the start (of the season) again and trying to impress,” said Clark.
“It doesn’t change much (in terms of preparation) – it (the pre-season) will probably be a bit shorter, but we’re just looking forward to it.”
The trip opens up a whole new challenge for Rabbitohs coaching staff, who will be looking to have the squad in peak condition after the trip to the UK for the all-important clash.
“I think it’s going to be a good experience,” said Clark.
“Our High Performance Manager will have it all planned out to a tee, so I’m sure we’ll be working hard over there in the lead-up to the game.”
