Rabbitohs prop-forward, Dave Tyrrell, is looking forward to the possibility of playing in his second Auckland Nines tournament should he be selected.

“I played in the Nines last year and had a great time,” said Tyrrell.

“If I get picked again, I’ll just go out there and enjoy the experience – just being together as a group, we had a good group of boys over there and I think everyone just enjoyed each other’s time.”

The Auckland Nines offers a different experience for fans and players alike, with reduced numbers on the field, coupled with fewer minutes – among a host of other differences from the normal game – making for an exciting experience.

“It’s a little bit more like touch I guess,” said Tyrrell.

“It’s a lot of off-the-cuff stuff, so you need those creative players there – I’m probably not one of them, I just go out there and do my job.

“But it’s sort of off-the-cuff, you can’t really plan anything – you’ve just got to work hard for each other.”
