Rabbitohs squad member, John Olive, has led the Australian Schoolboys to a 30-20 victory over France’s Under 19’s squad in Perpignan, France, this morning.

Olive’s first-half try, plus two in the second from the Rabbitohs centre, were instrumental in securing Australia the First Test win in a two-match series in France.

Olive was part of an all-Rabbitoh centre-pairing for the match, alongside fellow red and green teammate, Tevita Cottrell.

It didn’t take long for Australia get on the board, with Connor Cox grabbing the first of the match in just the sixth minute, before Olive dived over for the first of his hat-trick in the 13th minute to make it 10-0 early with Connor Tracey’s conversion.

Aussie winger, Braden Robson, then grabbed a four-pointer of his own in the 31st minute to make the score 14-0 going into the sheds.

On the resumption, Olive was in again four minutes into the second stanza to extend the Aussie lead to 20-0 with Tracey’s conversion. The French hit back with tries of their own, but the Australians were well in control.

Another try to Jacob Liddle plus the confirmation of Olive’s hat-trick was enough to sink the French by 30-20.

The Australian Schoolboys side will now take on the French Under 18’s side in Toulouse on Friday 19th December.
