Police Association, President Scott Weber recently presented a signed and framed South Sydney Rabbitohs jersey to Dr Murray Wright on behalf of the Association’s members, in recognition of his services to police.

For 20 years, Dr Wright has worked with numerous police including those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

He is a clinical psychiatrist and the Clinical Director of the North Shore Ryde Mental Health Service.

The presentation was initiated by Toni Newman, who wrote in Police News:

I thank the PANSW President Scott Weber for his assistance in making this presentation possible.

I also thank the South Sydney NRL Club for their kind donation of the autographed jersey, it was greatly appreciated.

Thank you also to Peter Remfrey for using his last contacts to make the jersey possible.

I thank Alan Baker and Esther McKay for representing police with post traumatic stress disorder.

Without the assistance of you four and the other guests this presentation would not have been possible.

I congratulate Dr Murray Wright on the jersey presented to him for his contribution to police suffering PTSD and for his contribution to police in general.

I believe Dr Wright and his fellow psychiatrists deserve a big thank you for their tireless efforts, not only with serving and retired police, but also within the wider community.

It cannot be easy to listen to the problems of so many people day in and day out.

I have known Dr Wright for several years as he has seen a number of my colleagues over those years.

He is a genuine caring person who wants to help police and members of his community.

There are a lot of deserving souls out there: other psychiatrists, GPs, or psychologists who could have received this jersey.

Unfortunately we are unable to recognise the efforts of all of them in police welfare month, but our sincere gratitude goes out to all those helping to make police life less stressful.
