Newly anointed Kangaroos Four Nations squad member, Dylan Walker, says that he is using his selection in Tim Sheens’ 24 man squad to learn as much as he can from more experienced campaigners.
Walker pointed to players such as Test skipper Cameron Smith as well as fellow Rabbitohs teammate Greg Inglis as squad members he will seek to learn from.
“There are so many great players in this squad,” said Walker.
“It’s just good enough to train with them and come in to camp and get to know them personally – I’m just excited about meeting new players and new people.”
Season 2014 was massive for Walker, who backed up his rookie of the year season (2013) with a Premiership in addition to selection in the Kangaroos squad.
But Walker credits his rise to the positive influences around him, including players and staff, but more specifically his family.
“I’ve had good people around me, from players to coaching staff,” said Walker.
“Family is a big one for me – they keep me grounded and mum gives me a flick over the ear if I ever stuff up, so she hasn’t changed a bit.”
