She was at the 1971 Grand Final, and has the footage to prove it! Proud Rabbitohs Member, Marie Withers, speaks to about the footage of her cheering on the red and greens to their 20th Premiership.

As a 21 year old at the time, Marie joined friends in the SCG’s Sheridan Stand and was caught by cameras following Bob McCarthy’s match-winning try – the footage subsequently going on to be played endlessly by stations whenever discussing Rabbitohs deciders.

“Every year they seem to play it, but I might get superseded now – it’s not our last Grand Final,” said Marie.

“It’s been proud for me over the years because I’ve got all these grandchildren, so now I can say ‘there’s nanny’ and it makes me proud. But most importantly what I can do, I can say to people ‘look at least I was a good sort once! I’ve got proof on film’.”
