When Souths were in a life and death struggle to stay in the NRL, singer/songwriter Allan Caswell was referred to in the media as the ‘Bob Dylan of Redfern’ with lyrics such as “we’ll all stand together, so that Souths can stand alone.”
It was Caswell who wrote the protest songs and sang at the rallies that laid the backdrop for the Rabbitohs’ fight-back, eventually singing before the Rabbitohs first game back in the competition.
Caswell is now facing his own battle in the courts, and his friends from the dark days of the Rabbitohs fight, along with the Souths Juniors Club, are throwing their support behind his bid to raise money in aid of his appeal.
Allan Caswell is a six time Golden Guitar winner and the concert on October 9th is a great lineup of some of Australia’s finest country artists including fellow Golden Guitar winners Camille and Stuie and Luke O’Shea, Karen Lynne and Bluegrass Circle, Pat Drummond, Little Pattie and a number of others have rushed to support their friend in his battle.
Tickets at $22 are available from the club and on the night and all proceeds will go to pay for Allan’s legal expenses.
