Souths Cares are calling on all their supporters to get behind the forthcoming Hurricane Workout of the Day (WOD) event which will see proceeds going directly to the KARI Scholarship Program, helping to educate local indigenous students.

Shannon Donato, Souths Cares General Manager, said that the event is not only a tremendous workout for the participants but also another way to assist in ensuring the good works of KARI made known to the broader community.

“By registering to enter in the Spartan Challenge and participating in the Hurricane WOD Sydney event, participants will be effectively donating the $20 fee direct to KARI’s scholarship program,” said Shannon.

“KARI, the largest accredited Aboriginal Children's Service across Australia, offers a School Scholarship Program to Aboriginal students in years 11 and 12 – providing financial aid to students and their families.

“These students and families include many from the South Sydney catchment area.”

Shannon said that Hurricane Hurricane WOD Sydney 2014 Spartan Race Australia will be held on Sunday, 14 September 2014 from between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm.

“WOD stands for workout of the day however, the event is best described as short, high intensity workouts just like those that cross-fitters do daily,” he said.

“The Sydney 2014 Hurricane WOD is to be led by Spartan Race Australia – an event that the students in our Marrickville Souths Breakfast Program are training for and will compete in October.

Shannon said that he’d love to see Rabbitohs supporters participating in the Hurricane WOD event to wear their team colours on the day.

“To have members of the Rabbitohs family participating on the day would not only mean more support for our local indigenous communities but it will turn the day in to a real community event,” Shannon concluded.
