The Cowboys had all the answers didn’t they? Well, if I can put my positive twist on that game, I would say that I am glad a team showed us any remaining weaknesses that we can now work on.
We have six teams – yes six – within four points of first. Looking at the ladder we may even be able to play the Roosters twice in two weeks which would be a great story but not so great for the heart palpitations.
But each week from here on in, we have to build. We have to step up to the tasks and play the football we know we can. So it is time to shut out last week and get down to business tonight. I am sure we are up for this challenge!
On another note, I couldn’t write this week without mentioning Sam Burgess. I am sure everyone would agree he has been an asset to our team. Since hearing of ‘some pommy guy’ signing with us, I was impressed. His well-known tackle on Fui Fui Moi Moi at the ripe old age of 18 turned some heads. But when he arrived, I could never have imagined such an agile, fast, strong, powerful man.
His heart quickly swelled with red and green and every Rabbitohs Member’s heart quickly swelled with love towards him. Not only has he put on some massive hits, but his try-scoring ability is pretty good too. He always takes an opportunity when handed to him and he has been a wonderful all-round clubman. Children can, and do, enthusiastically look up to him, and to see him leave will be difficult. I do however wish him the very best and I hope to see him again one day.
This week we have the Bulldogs. They are only two points behind us and can never ever be written off at this end of the year. Our last game against them was not our day losing by one point, so I expect a contest. This will be massive and something not to miss.
I wouldn’t be shutting my eyes at all tonight – it’s going to be a huge game!
Up the Mighty Rabbitohs!
