Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, has today (Tuesday) cited the importance of every two points ahead of this Thursday night’s Close the Gap Round clash with the Brisbane Broncos at ANZ Stadium.

Despite defeating competition front-runners Manly-Warringah last Friday night – his side’s fourth consecutive win – Maguire says the Rabbitohs are focussing on each individual game, week by week.

“This competition is a very, very tight competition, so every two points is vital,” said Maguire.

“For us it’s just about doing everything possible to get these two points because they are vital points that you need at the back-end of the season.

“For us, our focus – and I’ve said it many times – is about this game, because that’s what we can control.

“We’ve got four games to go in these rounds and this one’s a very, very important one for us just like every other game.”

The 10th placed Broncos come into Thursday’s match having won two of their last five games, including a 41-10 drubbing of the eighth placed Bulldogs last Friday night.

“They’re a quality team,” said Maguire.

“They’re asking questions. Their halves – they like to show the ball and they take you on so our concentration at every moment defensively needs to be spot on.”
