The South Sydney Rabbitohs recently enjoyed an evening of family, fun and food thanks to DeLonghi at the Rabbitohs Family Cooking Event.
Staged at the The Ambassador Restaurant at the Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE, Rabbitohs players and coaching staff were guided through the preparation of a range of dishes by trained professionals before sitting down to a meal at the culmination of the evening.
For Rabbitohs Head Coach, Michael Maguire, the evening was an important opportunity to bring players’ partners and family into the equation.
“Family is massive,” said Maguire.
“It’s a big part of what I believe and these sorts of things allow families to come together and learn something new.”
The Rabbitohs mentor also praised proud Rabbitohs Family Member, DeLonghi, for being part of the evening and helping to share family values as well as providing practical nutritional knowledge that the players could benefit from.
“We’re very lucky with some great sponsors at DeLonghi,” said Maguire.
“They provide a lot for us in the things that we do week in and week out. Food is a big part of what’s going on in all sporting industries and it’s obviously a big one in ours. For the boys to be able to learn a few lessons about how to cook something better for your body, it’s going to be beneficial to us.”
DeLonghi Australia’s Tom Mitchell echoed the thoughts of Maguire.
“Madge has always wanted to get the benefit to his players about wellbeing, fitness, health, nutrition – looking after themselves basically,” said Mr Mitchell.
“What I wanted to do was share a bit of the family values, and where I come into it – large family, know what it’s like to be around a dinner table and be part of a team spirit in family. So I think we have a combination of the two things going on here. It’s great to be here.”
