Rabbitohs winger Alex Johnston grabbed a hat-trick on Sunday afternoon at Barlow Park in Cairns in his side's 50-10 victory over the Newcastle Knights.

But rather than taking the credit himself, Johnston thanked his teammates for making it easier for him to get across the line.

“I’ve scored a couple of doubles throughout the season,” said a proud Johnston.

“So it’s really good to get that number three – I’d just like to thank the boys, they made it a bit easier for me tonight.”

Johnston's three four-pointers makes that 14 tries in just ten games for the Souths Junior, who made his debut against the Brisbane Broncos in round 8 of this season.
