Well that was a valuable little win against the Raiders! Sitting nicely in second, and only four points from the top! Some confident footy with a lot of flare, another double for Alex Johnston, as well as for Goodwin and Reynolds – clearly showing it was a game for the backs!

Dylan Walker – what a wiz! He has impressed me all year. If he tries something it’s usually safe and regularly pays off. His kick for Johnston’s freak-try was brilliant, and his flick pass for one of Reynolds’ four pointers was spot on. Exciting stuff!

Another man I was excited to see at this end of the year was John Sutton. Unfortunately with injury, Sutton will be on the sidelines for a little while. He is our current, longest serving player who lives and breathes our colours. To see him on the sideline at such an important time is very painful. He’s matured into a great player and skipper. He seems to handle the pressure, and it has added a lot to our game. I am praying that he has a speedy recovery and can get back into the squad as soon as possible.

So we are now second, have a decent for and against, and we have a damn good team on paper. The question is though, can we get over the top of Newcastle this week, before going up against the competition leaders in the form of Manly? We play them soon, and it will be a game that tells us a lot. Manly have such a good spread of players who can squash anyone on the right day, but so do we.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, it’s all about beating Newcastle this weekend in Cairns. It’s an important match. The ladder is still extremely tight and every win is golden. So a loss is not an option.

We have come a long way Rabbitohs Members! But there’s still a lot of footy to be played. The boys need you now more than ever!

It’s time to hit our straps! Up the mighty Rabbitohs!
