Rabbitohs hooker, Issac Luke, has set the bar high for himself when it comes to his performance on the field, with the Kiwi rake describing his performance as being ‘up and down’ this season.

Luke missed the majority of the first half of the NRL competition after sustaining a shoulder injury against the Wests Tigers in round three. Luke recently returned to the pitch, but by his own admission, the international still has plenty to work on.

“It’s been up and down,” said Luke.

“I haven’t been able to push out that 80 (minutes) – obviously struggle with fitness – but I’ve gotten back to how things were before I injured myself.

Despite his blunt assessment, Luke put in a work-horse effort against the Parramatta Eels in round 20, amassing 174 metres with the ball in hand and making a team high 33 tackles. Add four tackle breaks to the equation along with some opportunistic running that opened up plenty of opportunities for the Rabbitohs, and Luke was among the side’s most dangerous on park.

Luke will start at hooker this Monday night when the Rabbitohs take on the Canberra Raiders in Canberra in Monday Night Football.
