Malabar Public School vs St Agnes Matraville
Malabar Public School will take on St Agnes Matraville in the Final of the annual Bob McCarthy Cup tonight at ANZ Stadium in the final of the annual Bob McCarthy Cup, with the match being played as the curtain-raiser to the Rabbitohs’ round 17 clash against the Gold Coast Titans.
The match will see the conclusion of the tournament played out in front of the building Rabbitohs faithful, with both schools taking their place in the final after solid showings in the competition earlier in the year.
St Agnes find themselves in contention for the Cup after defeating Our Lady of Mount Carmel in a dominant performance at Roland Park – coming out 28-0 victors to progress to the Grand Final. For Malabar, their progression saw them narrowly overcome Matraville Soldiers Settlement by 16-10 in a gripping encounter.
The annual school competition saw 24 teams do battle in the years 5-6 division, with players between the ages of 11 and 12 taking the field at Roland Park in the ‘round-robin’ style tournament.
Rabbitohs Members and supporters are urged to get out to ANZ Stadium early to cheer on the next generation of Rabbitohs stars as they do battle for the trophy named in honour of one South Sydney’s favourite sons in former Souths coach, Premiership winner and international, Bob McCarthy.
