Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds is looking forward to taking on a new-look Titans halves pairing that will include new addition on the Gold Coast, Daniel Mortimer this Monday night.
Despite having only limited time with his new teammates on the Gold Coast, Reynolds says Mortimer was impressive in his first outing with his new club and that he will no doubt be a danger on Monday night, particularly when coupled with the game-breaking ability of Albert Kelly.
“I think he’s been a great addition to their squad,” said Reynolds of Mortimer.
“He filled in there quite comfortably the other week and I think he only had two training sessions under his belt, so he’s definitely going to be a lot more confident.
“With Albert Kelly there, he’s a great player and you have to be on high alert with him too.”
The Rabbitohs will be looking to bounce back from their round 16 loss to the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville – a game the Rabbitohs didn’t start well. Reynolds quipped that there are no easy games in the NRL and that every game is now crucial.
“You’ve got to turn up every week willing to play and put your body on the line and turn up with a lot of enthusiasm,” said Reynolds.
“You give teams a sniff and they take it these days. It’s a tough competition – it’s so tight. Every game is crucial and I’m sure this week is going to be another tough challenge for us.
The Titans will be without Origin stars such as Nate Myles, Greg Bird and former Rabbitoh Dave Taylor, but Reynolds is convinced that the Queenslanders will have plenty of go-forward despite missing such forward power.
“It’s always a tough challenge there in the middle – they’ve still got a lot of boys there that can do a job,” said Reynolds.
“In saying that, we’ve got a few quality players out too – Benny Te’o, GI and Chris McQueen.”
