Rabbitohs prop-forward Dave Tyrrell says the Rabbitohs will need to play to their strengths tonight against Saint George Illawarra at ANZ Stadium if they are to come away with the two points.
Tyrrell and his fellow Rabbitohs are expecting a Dragons outfit keen to prove themselves in round 12, but according to the hard-working prop, all the focus must be on themselves.
“We’ve got to be on our game,” said Tyrrell.
“They’ll be out to prove themselves and we’ve got to play our game to our strengths. If we don’t, we’ll get our pants pulled down.
“They’re a side that can turn around their performances and give us a lot of trouble, but we’re entirely focussed on ourselves and getting our game right – we’ve got a lot to improve and we’re working hard at that.”
The Rabbitohs got back in the winners’ circle against the Sharks last Monday night despite missing State of Origin players Greg Inglis, Chris McQueen and Ben Te’o – the side putting in a solid performance by keeping Cronulla scoreless.
Despite the win, Tyrrell mirrored the thoughts of fellow prop George Burgess, who in the lead-up to tonight’s match emphasised the need for the Rabbitohs to continually improve.
“Every week you say ‘we didn’t do this well, or didn’t do this well’ – there’s always something we can work on,” said Tyrrell.
“Even if we do play well, there’s always something we can work at. We’re just looking to improve and I’m sure we’re not too far off.”
The South Sydney Rabbitohs will take on the St George Illawarra Dragons in round twelve tonight (Monday, 2nd June) at ANZ Stadium.
