Rabbitohs and Maroon’s forward Ben Te’o had an unexpected run-in with a Kangaroo at Camp Maroon this week.

"It was a big sucker," said a bemused Te'o.

"I was just a bit shaken up, but that's what happens when you try and run down a Kangaroos mate."

Maroon's skipper Cameron Smith witnessed the would-be attack - re-counting the tale to QRL TV in all it's gruesome detail.

"I think Benny was just trying to go and get a footy," said the Maroon's skipper.

"Obviously one of the local wild-life has wandered onto the park and got a little bit flustered and he actually took a couple of skips towards the big fella (Te'o) and this bloke took off like there was no tomorrow."
