NRL Fantasy Tips – Rd 11, 2014
Round 11 is the first big bye week of the season with the Storm, Dragons, Eels, Knights, Manly and Penrith having the week off. To make things worse, all State of Origin players are in camp preparing for next Wednesday’s Game I to be played in Brisbane.
Congratulations to Greg Inglis, Ben Te’o and Chris McQueen for making the QLD team – but for Fantasy NRL players, a nightmare! All three will miss games over the Origin period and could be considered sells if you are going for overall and need coverage.
Before trades, I have 13 players fit to play this weekend, so using three trades will give me 16 players which is a good result. During this bye week, you are allocated an additional trade giving you three for the week. You should use these to purchase players I outlined in last week’s article and not those who have short term job security. Target players from the Rabbitohs, Roosters, Bulldogs and Titans.
Moses Mbye, Bulldogs – with the selection of Hodkinson and J Reynolds in the halves for Origin, Mbye looks like he has a chance to play in all 3 tough bye weeks while the above duo are in NSW Origin camp.
Sam Burgess, Rabbitohs – an Englishman with no chance of playing Origin, solid bye coverage and one of the in-form forwards in the comp.
James Graham, Bulldogs/George Burgess, Rabbitohs – again, both Englishman with solid byes and consistent scores
Aidan Sezer, Titans – hopefully none of you bought him last week after I suggested he could be an option due to bye coverage. He could be out for the season.
Bulldogs Origin players – Josh Reynolds, Trent Hodkinson, Tony Williams and Josh Morris will all miss games if they are selected in all three Origin encounters, and then they need to back up and play on the weekend after each Origin game.
Greg Bird, Titans – Bird will return in round 13, will miss round 14 and 17 with Origin and round 16 with a bye – Too hard to hold onto him for that long.
James Maloney, Roosters – not being selected for Origin will see Maloney play extra games this season at club level and could quite easily be a buy this week because of this. I want to see how he goes this week and also how the Bulldogs pair performs in Origin I, as he could still receive a call up for games two and three.
Sonny-Bill Williams, Roosters – hit some form two weeks ago and was shifted to the halves last week which resulted in an underwhelming score. I am confident he will hit form soon.
Paul Carter, Titans – with Bird out suspended, Myles playing Origin and Harrison injured until round 17, Carter looks set for a big role over the Origin period.
