North Sydney Bears Vs NZ Warriors

Up until last Sunday, the North Sydney Bears had waited since round one to register their second victory, and with the stakes rising by the round, the men in red and black finally delivered an 18-12 win against the higher placed Newcastle Knights.

The likes of Joel Reddy, Ben Lowe and Joe Picker were all late inclusions in last week’s win, and with the prospect of Issac Luke and Luke Keary returning for South Sydney shortly, more re-enforcements may be on their way to North Sydney Oval in the near future.

But with the Warriors themselves coming off a win against Manly last weekend, coupled with the loss of Nathan Merritt, Reddy and Lowe thanks to the Origin period, the Bears have been dealt a distinct blow that will require those left behind to step up further.

Merritt scored one try against the Knights and set up another in a controlled performance from the try-scoring hero. The Bears squad will be looking to aim up this week in the absence of these strike players.

Is last week’s win enough to get Norths to turn their season around against the sixth-placed Warriors? The next 80 minutes will tell the tale.
