I thought we would beat Melbourne – but it was not to be. This table is so tight this year that one loss puts you back further than you would like. So no more looking back! The Sharks are next and we need to be on our game.

We are unlucky to have three players out for the Maroons, but we are also lucky enough to have a few English lads lining up for us who might have been selected in Origin if they were eligible.

Merritt is taking over Inglis and I’m feeling safe about that move. Our halves – who could just as easily be in the halves for the Blues – also stay with us. The Sharks have lost muscle-men Gallen and Lewis, so having the three Burgess boys is a god-send for us.

Shark Park is a hard win for us on any given day, but we need this win. If we don’t, then we make things hard for ourselves. I don’t want to see that. I know we are a fabulous team and have so much more to give. We just need to dig a little deeper and show a little more faith.

Origin time is a favourite of mine. Many NSW Souths fans will jump across and support McQueen, Te’o and Inglis, but my stance stays the same. If you don a Maroon jersey, you are the enemy. However, I wish them well – but not too well. A safe and sound series for them would be ideal without the win. A Greg Inglis break, with a few palms, only to have Jarryd Hayne strip one on one and race to the other end of the field would be brilliant in my eyes – but ONLY while he has that Cane Toad jersey on.

So Rabbitohs, have you still got faith? I do. The ladder is close. Our points ‘for’ are right up there with the leaders of the comp, and our points ‘against’ are not too shabby either. We have glimpses of brilliance, but we falter when we really shouldn’t.

Our biggest problem is mistakes, and silly ones at that. Easily fixed I say. A little faith and a push in the right direction and we have the Bulldogs looking over their shoulders quick-smart. It’s not the second half of the season yet either, so anything can happen!

Shark Park on a Monday night, with key players out – this game will be exciting. Let the Rookies run amok, let Walker stretch his legs and get Merritt’s record up higher. We cannot let this one slip through our fingers.

The best I can do to help is support, scream, cheer, show my colours and… believe. We can do it.

Up the Mighty Rabbitohs!
