In round 10, the mighty Rabbitohs will take on the Melbourne Storm at ANZ Stadium in what looks to be a cracking match between two great teams.

With the bye period fast approaching, Fantasy Managers need to start thinking about player coverage to maximise points if you are playing for the overall title.

Below is a bye schedule for the State of Origin period. Over this time, Origin players could miss up to five games depending on where their teams’ byes fall. Origin players from the Tigers, Bulldogs and Titans will miss the maximum five games and NRL Fantasy Managers will need to weigh up whether they can hold them through this tough period. However, non-Origin Bulldogs and Titans look like great additions throughout the period.

The best players to target over this time should be non-Origin players from the Rabbitohs, Roosters, Bulldogs and Titans. Off the top of my head you should look at a good balance of the following players if you can fit them in:

·        Sam Burgess

·        George Burgess

·        Adam Reynolds

·        John Sutton

·        Sonny-Bill Williams

·        Aiden Guerra

·        James Graham

·        Tim Lafai

·        Aiden Tolman

·        Trent Hodkinson

·        Aiden Sezer

·        Albert Kelly

With Andrew Fifita (my captain last week) going down, he is a must trade candidate and could be missing between 6-8 weeks. A trade for Sam Burgess, George Burgess, James Graham or Aiden Tolman makes a lot of sense.

Also impacting many NRL Fantasy Managers, myself included, is the dropping of popular cash cows like Corey Thompson and Matthew Allwood. Add the injury to Curtis Rona (hopefully only this week) and suddenly all the plans you may have made go out the window. At this stage, all three are set to play round 11 so trading them out next week once teams are announced than jumping the gun and finding they get named after you trade them out.

Apart from Alex Johnston, there aren’t too many other cash cows worth purchasing, so look to upgrade to a high-scoring back who doesn’t miss too many games. Kurt Mann from the Storm would be an option, but misses round 11.
