While Member Appreciation Day may have come and gone, proud Member Valerie Campbell was so happy with her and her husband’s experience as part of the Rabbitohs Family, she showed her appreciation in writing.

Some light rain failed to deter Members from getting together at the Rabbitohs High Performance Centre, Redfern Oval last month to meet the boys who had only the night before beaten the Penrith Panthers with a steely defensive effort.

Players spent the morning signing autographs and posing for photos with Members of all ages, with Valerie so pleased, she just had to let the Rabbitohs know.

To the South Sydney Rabbitohs
I just wanted to take the time to compliment the players on how well-mannered they were to the Members of this Club.

When my husband and I approached each player for a signature for my 2014 jersey and his 2014 Member cap, they greeted us, smiled, were very courteous and were only too pleased to do so.  I am sure that after a tough game the night before, it was probably the last thing that they felt like attending, but they did so with such great spirit.
I am a school secretary and there is a great expectation that the students display good manners at all times, and they do so beautifully, so it was especially lovely to see this group of young men – wonderful ambassadors of our club – being welcoming and well-mannered to all those Members who attended.
I know it means a lot at our school when we get wonderful feedback from the parents, or members of the public regarding our students, so I am sure you would feel the same.
Warm regards
Valerie Campbell

A long-time Member and supporter of the Rabbitohs, Valerie’s words were read and appreciated by everyone from players, to CEO Shane Richardson, who attributed the positive feedback to the feeling of family within the Club.

“It’s wonderful when you get good feedback like that,” said Richo.

“We see ourselves as a family at Souths, so to know that our Members are being treated like family really says it all. When you join as a Member of South Sydney, you’re becoming part of something much bigger than just a football club.”

The sentiment is one that Valerie agrees with – the long-time Member citing that those with whom she sits at ANZ Stadium have become a close-knit bunch.

“The feeling is great,” said Valerie.

“All the people in our little group has become a little family there and we all feel very welcome. We feel as though we’re a real part of South Sydney.”

The South Sydney Rabbitohs became the first Club in NRL history to surpass 30,000 Members, and the Club continues its march towards its 2014 target of 32,000.
