A late City flurry has seen Adam Reynolds and Dylan Walker’s side come away with a draw against Country in the annual City-Country match in front of 9,627 fans in Dubbo.

Reynolds grabbed three conversions during the tight affair, while it was Dylan Walker who threw City’s final flurry into motion by streaking away for a break in the dying minutes of the match for Will Hopoate to score.

Country were in first just over 10 minutes in through David Mead, who hit the ball at speed from an inside pass to open their account. Tyrone Roberts converted to give the Country an early six-point lead.

City wouldn’t be outdone though, scoring through five-eighth Josh Reynolds, before Adam Reynolds added the extras to square it all up for the city-clickers just five minutes after Country’s opening try.

City gained confidence from their opening four-pointer with strong running from Rabbitohs-bound forward Tim Grant – Daniel Tupou taking a cross-field kick to finish off a strong set to take the lead. Adam Reynolds sprayed the conversion from out wide to leave the score at 10-6 in City’s favour.

Some good ball movement from Country allowed Kevin Gordon to shimmy and score outside of Jorge Taufua to make it 10 apiece with 10 minutes remaining in the first half  before Tyrone Roberts hooked the attempted conversion.

With Country gaining momentum off the back of a Jarrod Mullen forty-twenty, David Mead sliced through to score his second of the afternoon with seven minutes left in the first stanza. Roberts had better luck with his conversion to make it 16-10 in Country’s favour going into the sheds.

On the resumption, both sides traded blows, but it was Country’s defence that really impressed, repelling wave after wave of City attack with gusto. It took 23 minutes for the sides to break through, and it finally went the way of Country with Jamal Idris scoring off a kick from Mullen. Roberts converted again to make it 22-10.

Idris was at it again minutes later, running over the top of the City defence before passing on to James McManus, who finished off the movement for Country to make it 26-10 with nine minutes remaining.

With the clock winding down, Andrew Fifita grabbed himself a four-pointer for City with five minutes left. Adam Reynolds converted before Daniel Tupou grabbed himself his second of the afternoon with a freakish effort managing to stay inside the sideline.

But City weren’t done, producing a late flurry that began with a Dylan Walker break that eventually resulted in a Will Hopoate try. Reynolds' pressure conversion drew the match at 26 points apiece to round out a tight finish.
