Nathan Merritt etched his name into the history books tonight (Friday) when he crossed the line for the 145th time wearing the red and green, making him the most prolific try-scorer in the Club's 106 year history.

Merritt was justifiably all smiles following the Rabbitohs victory with the Souths Junior overwhelmed by the occassion after experiencing a small try-scoring drought.

"It's been a long-time coming," said Merritt.

"I've been on a try-scoring drought - but I finally scored a try tonight and I'm very pleased to get that try and make history."
