The South Sydney Rabbitohs will take on the New Zealand Warriors in the Quarter Finals of the Auckland Nines competition this afternoon at 2.20pm AEDT AT Eden Park.

The Warriors stand as the only undefeated side in the Nines competition - unsurprising given the home-ground advantage coupled with the level of support afforded the side over the weekend.

The home-side play an exciting brand of Nines football that at times resembles basketball rather than rugby league. With a combination of structure and off the cuff football that has come to define the Warriors in previous year’s, they will be difficult to beat.

South Sydney by comparison lost a match to the Storm yesterday (Saturday) on the back of a mistake-riddled performance. Add the loss of Luke Keary thanks to a late shoulder injury, and the Rabbitohs have a difficult proposition ahead of them.

Key to Victory

The loss of Keary signals an opportunity for both John Sutton and Dylan Walker to step up even further. Both players have experience as play-makers, while both have also put in exceptional performances at this competition. Expect both to step up in Keary’s absence.
