The Rabbitohs were welcomed to Auckland with a civic reception yesterday (Friday) ahead of the kick-off of today’s Auckland Nines tournament – John Sutton telling Rabbitohs TV about Captain Ben Te’o’s speech to the crowd.

In typical Te’o fashion, the Rabbitohs back-rower had those in attendance in stitches with his personality and sense of comedy.

“We are pumped and ready,” Te’o told the Auckland crowd with a clenched jaw.

“We’ve been planning for this for a long time, and I’m not going to lie to you, we want that prize-money.”

“We have plenty of speed out wide – we’ve brought over a couple of young super-stars and some big, agile back-rowers – myself and John Sutton,” said Te’o with tongue firmly in check.

“We’ve all be given the license to play some entertaining football.”

It wasn’t all comedy though, with Sutton taking time out with teammate Ben Lowe to sign autographs for the excited Auckland masses.

The Rabbitohs kick off their Nines campaign today against the Dragons at 1.40pm AEDT, at Eden Park. Tune in to Fox Sports to catch all the action live.
