Rabbitohs new recruit Lote Tuqiri announced his arrival at the Club by scoring a try in the sides opening Auckland Nines match this afternoon (Saturday).

The dual-international was surprised by the pace of the reduced-format game, citing that a need to get small things like interchanges right would go a long way to success.

“It’s just hectic out there,” said a puffed Tuqiri.

“It’s really fast paced and you’ve got to get your interchanges down-pat. I’m justhappy to be on the end of some gun, young players and gun older players.”

The big former Fiji and Kangaroo rep was also touched by the positive reception he was given by the Auckland crowd.

“I’ve never played out here in the daytime before,” admitted Tuqiri.

“A packed crowd, great atmosphere, people are going nuts – they love you or hate you. I’ve got a pretty good reception here so I’m pretty happy.”
