Rabbitohs centre Beau Champion was relieved to get through today’s (Sunday’s) trial match against the Bulldogs injury-free after the Souths Junior spent the preceding few seasons plagued by injuries.

“It felt good,” admitted Champion.

“Just to get through the game and pull up without any injuries is good. I probably haven’t played for about six months so it was good to get through the game.”

The Rabbitohs put in a surprisingly polished performance considering the time of year, and Champion was convinced that young Dylan Walker was among the sides best.

“I think Dylan Walker was probably our best player today,” said Champion.

“He played well in the centres in the first half then when he got an opportunity at five eighth he really took it with two hands as well.”
