The Rabbitohs will take on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in a blockbuster match up at Gosfords Bluetongue Stadium in a Sea Eagles home game, before returning to ANZ Stadium to take on the Wests Tigers in an away game.
Round four will see South Sydney at home at ANZ Stadium against the Raiders in a Sunday afternoon football clash before heading to the Sydney Cricket Ground for the round five Heritage Round clash with the Dragons.
The Rabbitohs will also feature in the Good Friday match against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium in round seven, be the final match in a nationwide triple-header on ANZAC Day against the Broncos in Brisbane in round eight, play the Warriors at nib Stadium in Perth in round 13, host the Newcastle Knights at Barlow Park in Cairns in round 21, take on the Sea Eagles at home at the Sydney Cricket Ground in round 22, and will finish the regular season taking on the Roosters at Allianz Stadium.
The matches at the Sydney Cricket Ground against the Dragons in round five and the Sea Eagles in round 22 will evoke glorious memories of yesteryear, taking these illustrious Clubs back to the turf which saw the Rabbitohs win their last two premierships. In 1970, South Sydney won its 19th premiership against Manly-Warringah, a match which became famous for the heroics of the great John Sattler who played 77 minutes of the finale with a broken jaw. In 1971, the Rabbitohs won their 20th premiership against the St George Dragons with a team revered as one of the best to ever take the field in the cardinal and myrtle, including Australian Internationals Eric Simms, Paul Sait, Bob Honan, Ray Branighan, Denis Pittard, Bob Grant, Ron Coote, Gary Stevens, Bob McCarthy, John ONeill, George Piggins, John Sattler and coached by the immortal Clive Churchill.
The Rabbitohs will play 11 games at ANZ Stadium this season including Plus and Premium Membership Package Reciprocal Rights games against the Tigers in round three and Bulldogs in round 25 at ANZ Stadium, as well as access to the Dragons home game at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Heritage Round early in the season, complemented by a Rabbitohs home game at the SCG against Manly late in the season. Member special offers to other away games will be available throughout the season. Keep an eye on www.rabbitohs.com.au for more details as the season approaches.
