First of all Champ how did the surgery go and when can fans expect to see you back on the paddock?
"Surgery went really well, the surgeon said the operation was a success and I can hopefully be back on the field late this season..."
Where abouts did you live while you were living on the Gold Coast playing for the Titans?
"I lived in an area called Miami which is just off the Gold Coast Highway, about five minutes from Broadbeach and about 15 minutes to Surfers Paradise. It was a great spot and just a couple of minutes from the beach. It was also very convenient in only being about 10 minutes from training and very central to everything else on the coast."
Who was your room mate while playing for the Titans? Who controlled the TV remote?
"I actually lived with a former Rabbitohs player in Beau Falloon, who is still currently playing with the Titans. Beau is my best mate and we both signed for the Titans at the same time. It was a perfect fit and we had several Foxtel boxes in the house so the TV remote was never an issue. He cooked though, and very well I must add!"
Tell us something that a Sydney-sider may not know about the Gold Coast?
"I'm not going to give that away, if you haven't gone up to the Coast to explore, you must!"
What is your favourite place to eat while on the Gold Coast?
"The Goldie has some great places to eat, a lot of trendy bars and some great spots with real atmosphere. I used to spend a lot of my time at Nobby's Beach and a place called HUGO's, they make an awesome burger. My favourite was the Chicken Cajun Burger! But anywhere around Nobbys or Broadbeach are great spots and have a lot of variety!"
Where was The Champs favourite beach hang out? With the game being smack bang in the middle of winter (Saturday 27 July) would you recommend travelling Rabbitohs supporters take their swimmers?
"The Goldie has plenty of great beaches that run all up the coast, anywhere from Coolangatta all the way up to Surfers Paradise. The water is a lot warmer up there and given the cold rainy weather we've had in Sydney the last couple of weeks, I don't think there'd be a better weekend getaway for a Rabbitohs fan than to pack the swimmers and head up for our game on the 27th of July!"
The Gold Coast is famous for fun, what were some of your favourite things to do on the Coast?
"The Goldie is definitely a lot of fun and the night life is amazing, along with the great theme parks for the kids, it's also very laid back and a great place to relax. At night there are trendy restaurants in Surfers and Broadbeach with plenty of nightclubs. For families the theme parks are a great attraction and a lot of fun. You can't go wrong if you pick either Dreamworld or Sea World during the day, then head along to the footy at Skilled Stadium at night."
Can you describe the atmosphere of a packed Skilled Stadium for a Rabbitohs supporter that might not have been to the venue before?
"Skilled Stadium is an awesome venue and has a great atmosphere because the fans are so close to the playing field and the players. I played two All Stars games at Skilled in front of a packed house and they were definitely two of the best crowds I have ever played in front of. With the Titans close to jumping into the Top four, I expect a massive crowd at Skilled Stadium for our game and it'd be great to see a lot of red and green!"
The last time the Rabbitohs and Titans met just one try separated the two teams for an exciting game of Footy, in your eyes who are the Titans most dangerous players?
"The Titans have a great roster and can mix it with the best teams in the competition. They have power in guys like Dave Taylor and Jamal Idris, Origin work-horses like Nate Myles and Greg Bird, but I think their real excitement machine is Albert Kelly. He can turn a game with his speed and footwork so I know our boys will be keeping a close eye on him."
Champ youre renowned for kissing the Bunny on your chest every time you score a try and being very passionate in doing so, how much of an impact do the fans have on bringing out this passion and how important is it that they travel to the teams away games?
"You play for your teammates, the club, your family and for the fans who love the club just as much as I do. The noise you hear on the field from our fans like the Burrow gives us that extra bit to lift and do that little more, to chase that little harder and go that extra mile. There is nothing better than going in to an oppositions backyard and have your fans louder than theirs and basically feeling like you are at home when you're away."
